Safer Migration (SaMi) Programme Phase IV (2024-2028)

The Safer Migration (SaMi) Programme Phase IV is a joint initiative by the governments of Nepal and Switzerland aimed at consolidating 12 years of partnership in safer migration. The programme focuses on institutionalising migration-related services and strengthening the capacities of federal, provincial, and local governments to manage, finance, and assure the quality of programme components.

HELVETAS Nepal, on behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), provides technical assistance to SaMi and is seeking qualified and committed Nepali professionals for the following positions:


1. Position: Psychosocial Specialist

Job Purpose:
The psychosocial specialist will lead the psychosocial component of the SaMi programme. This role involves building the institutional and technical capacity of federal, provincial, and local governments to provide quality psychosocial services for migrant workers and their families. The position holder will collaborate with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and National Health Training Centre to develop or update policies, allocate resources, and build the capacity of service providers. They will also integrate psychosocial services into existing information management systems.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s degree in psychology or public health.
  • Experience: At least 7 years in a similar role within the public health system.
  • Competence: commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty reduction.

Duty Station: Lalitpur (Program Support Unit) with around 50% field visits.


2. Position: Provincial Program Manager

Job Purpose:
The Provincial Program Manager will ensure the successful expansion, consolidation, and institutionalisation of the SaMi Programme in their assigned province. This role focuses on maintaining high-quality migration services, ensuring effective coordination with stakeholders, and overseeing financial and administrative operations. The incumbent will also align SaMi activities with the Reintegration of Returnee Migrant Workers (ReMi) Project and other related initiatives to enhance programme synergies.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master’s degree in social science, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in development, including 2 years in project management. Experience in migration, employment, and governance is an advantage.
  • Competence: Dedication to gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty reduction.

Duty Station: Provincial Headquarters, Karnali Province, with frequent field visits.


3. Position: Program Officer

Job Purpose:
The Program Officer will provide technical assistance to local governments to implement the SaMi Programme, focusing on capacity building, institutionalisation, and sustainability of migration-related services. The position requires close coordination with stakeholders and alignment with the Reintegration of Returnee Migrant Workers (ReMi) Project and other initiatives to ensure best practices and service cross-referrals.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in social science or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in project implementation within the migration field.
  • Competence: commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty reduction.

Duty Station: Dadeldhura, with frequent visits to other districts in Sudurpashchim Province.

Project Duration:

3.5 years
